  • MSc. Biao Yu (Surveying and Mapping, Southwest Jiaotong university, China) visits the group as Visiting PhD student from December 2019 to December 2020 (04.02.2020).

  • The public version of the TUDaBo SAR-RDSAR Processor is now available via ESA's  G-POD (Grid-Processing On Demand) Service. TUDaBo (Technical University Darmstadt – University Bonn SAR-Reduced SAR) is a web platform that provides the capability to process on line and on demand Cryosat-2 and Sentinel-3A SAR mode Full Bit Rate (FBR or L1A) data to Level-1B and Level-2 geophysical data products.   • Judith Schall defended her PhD on "Optimization of point grids in regional satellite gravity analysis using a Bayesian approach". (27.09.2019).

  • At the 27th General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics in Montreal, Canada, July 8-18, 2019, Jürgen Kusche has been re-appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Geodesy for the next 4-year period. (18.07.2019).

  • Christina Lück wins Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award  at the EGU General Assembly 2019 for her contribution "Using Swarm to derive global sea level budgets" (07.06.2019).

  • Anne Springer defended her PhD on "A water storage reanalysis over the European continent: Assimilation of GRACE data into a high-resolution hydrological model and validation". (08.03.2019).

  • DFG  Roundtable Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) workshop at the Institute of Geodesy und Geoinformation on 7-8 Februar 2019. Main objective of the roundtable is to support interdisciplinary research in Germany with the SWOT satellite mission, and plan its use in scientific applications  from climate change detection to assimilation in ocean and hydrological models (04.02.2019).

  • Dr. Qiujie Chen (Tongji University, Shanghai) visits the group as a Humboldt fellow from January 2019 to December 2020 (26.01.2019).

  • Prof. Dr. Yunzhong Shen (College of Surveying and GeoInformatics, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.) visits the Group as a guest scientist from November 2018 to December 2018 (20.11.18).

  • The Astronomical, Physical and Mathematical Geodesy (APMG) group has demonstrated the measurement of climate change and sea level rise with a (miniature) satellite altimeter at the University of Bonn booth on the occasion of the open-door-day at Villa Hammerschmidt, the seat of Germany's Federal President in Bonn.   • Makan Karegar defended his PhD on "Theory and Application of Geophsical Geodesy for studying Earth Surface Deformation" at USF, Tampa. (05.06.2018).

  • New paper on "Time-variable gravity fields and ocean mass change from 37 months of kinematic Swarm orbits" by Christina Lück et al., published online in Solid Earth (23.03.2018). The most recent ocean mass time series currently until December 2017 can be found here. There will be regular updates. (03.04.18).

  • Dr. Anna Klos (WAT, Warsaw) visits the Group as a guest scientist from Februaray 2018 to April 2018 (01.02.18).

  • EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) has nominated Dr. Luciana Fenoglio-Marc as member of the Sentinel 6/Jason-CS Mission Advisory Group. For Sentinel-6, read more. (29.01.18).

  • DFG has approved a new Research Unit "Understanding the Global Frehwater System by Combining Geodetic and Remote Sensing Information with Modelling Using a Calibration/Data Assimilation Approach (GlobalCDA)", coordinated by Petra Döll (Frankfurt) and Jürgen Kusche, read more (15.12.17).
