Summary
The Mean Dynamic Topography (MDT) derived along the world’s best surveyed coastlines as difference between the ellipsoidal height of mean sea level measured by tide gauges (or by satellite altimetry) and the GOCE geoid has similar precision than the MDT suggested by ocean models. In this project the study is extended to various regions around the world. The main goal is to identify sections of the world’s coastline characterized by various type of MDT and to select the approach more suitable for each region.
The study is carried out by a consortium led by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The four sub-contractors are :
- Littoral Environnement et Sociétés (LIENSs), La Rochelle, France
- University of Bristol (UB), UK/
- University of Bonn (UBonn), Germany /
- University of Liverpool (UL), UK /
