DLR-TIK

Summary

The aim of the project is the development of an empirical model for the determination of the thermospheric neutral density taking into account the electron density of the ionosphere in order to calculate and propagate the orbit from objects more precisely. The investigation of the coupling between the thermosphere and the ionosphere as well as their behavior in relation to the events of the space weather are essential components of this project. Building on the DLR D-SAT project (https://www.apmg.uni-bonn.de/forschung/DLR%20D-SAT), the DLR TIK project is a joint project of the APMG of the University of Bonn and the DGFI of the Technical University of Munich.
